Actually, it already existed, but I’m referring to the newly-rebuilt-with-its-own-dedicated-domain kind of thing (and I removed the “Design” word between “Cosmo’s” and “Workshop”).
It is an important change for the future of the cosmicollective, even though it might not seem that way at first. It mainly means that all those quirky projects like pump.kin or the Meat Control Spreadsheet will no longer be associated with the cosmicollective. Even though they tended to draw some visitors to this site, I believe it’s best to spin it off entirely to a different domain and keep cosmicollective.org entirely focused on art and its artists (which is something I already started doing when I launched the third version of the site with Cosmo’s Design Workshop).
Cosmo’s Workshop now hosts the side-projects that this site used to have, along with a lot of text about Search Engine Optimization, and will soon host ideas on Design and maybe even host a couple of Wordpress Themes of my own. Furthermore, the idea is that Cosmo’s Workshop becomes my new playground of technologies and techniques, leaving cosmicollective.org to rely solely on proven grounds, in a way I don’t penalize it from such constant changes. To give myself another sandbox, and let the cosmicollective flourish on basic content (which I probably should have done from the start).
Though it’s still every early to tell it’s fate, Cosmo’s Workshop has already been conceived on a much more planned manner than cosmicollective.org. Every aspect of the site’s architecture was carefully crafted in order to maximize indexing, readability and speed and I already feel like I’ve learned lots that can be used on the cosmicollective.org or even future sites. It’s a shame I made so many mistakes on administrating this very site, which is actually one of the things I hold very dear in life and have so many expectations for the future. Oh well.
Ironically, Cosmo’s Workshop was a content heavy site (it’s partially focused on the topic of SEO), which would have benefitted imensly from a good PageRank. Too bad I lost it two weeks before it launched.
